【摘要】:Manyimportantpropertiesofcrosslinkedethyleneplasticsvarywiththegelcontent.Hence,determinationofthegelcontentprovidesameansofbothcontrollingtheprocessandratingthequalityoffinishedproducts.Extractiontestspermitverificationofthedesiredgelcontentofanygivencrosslinkedethyleneplasticandtheyalsopermitcomparisonbetweendifferentcrosslinkedethyleneplastics,includingthosecontainingfillers,providedthat,forthelatter,thefollowingconditionsaremet:Thefillerisnotsolubleinxyleneortolueneattheextractiontemperatureandtheamountoffillerpresentinthecompoundisknownorcanbedetermined.Sufficientcrosslinkinghasbeenachievedtopreventmigrationoffillerduringtheextraction.Usuallyithasbeenfoundthat,atextractionlevelsupto50%,theextractionsolventremainsclearandfreeoffiller.Sincesomeoxidativedegradationofthematerialcanoccurattheextractiontemperaturesusedinthisprocedure,despitetheuseofaclosedcellwhichallowsforminimalintroductionofoxygen,asuitableantioxidantisaddedtothesolventtoinhibitsuchdegradation.Beforeproceedingwiththismethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,ortestingparameters,orcombinationthereof,coveredinthematerialsspecificationshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethod.Iftherearenomaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply1.1Thegelcontentofcrosslinkedethyleneplasticsisdeterminedbysolventextractionwithxyleneortoluene.Thistestmethodisapplicabletoethyleneplasticsofalldensities,includingthosecontainingfillers;providedthefillersareinsolubleintheextractionsolvent(s).1.2Thistestmethodusespressurizedliquidextraction(PLE)toincreasethespeedandreducetheamountofsolventrequiredforsolventextraction.TheresultsofthismethodaresimilartoTestMethodD2765.1.3Extractiontestsshallbeperformedonsamplesofanyshape(see7.2).Specimensshallbeselectedfromthoseportionsofthearticlemostsusceptibletoinsufficientcrosslinkingorselectedfromportionsrepresentativeoftheentirearticle.Thistestmethodhasbeendevelopedforproductionandqualitycontrolofcrosslinkedpolyethylenepipebutmaybeapplicabletootherproductssuchasmultilayermaterialsandfibers.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thismethodmakesuseofminimalreagentsandallowsforsolventrecoveryandre-use.Duetotheuseofminimalreagents,healthandsafetyconcernsareminimizedincomparisontoothermethods.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection10.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothistestmethod.ThistestmethodissimilartoTestMethodD2765.
