【摘要】:ThispartofISO24614presentsthebasicconceptsandgeneralprinciplesofwordsegmentation,andprovideslanguage-independentguidelinestoenablewrittentextstobesegmented,inareliableandreproduciblemanner,intowordsegmentationunits(WSU).NOTE1Inlanguage-relatedresearchandindustry,thewordisafundamentalandnecessaryconcept.Itisthuscriticaltohaveauniversaldefinitionofwhatcomprisesawordforthepurposesofsegmentingatextintowords.Onecannotsimplyuserulesbasedonlyonspacesandpunctuationtodelimitwords.Suchrulesdonotaccountforsituationssuchashyphenatedcompounds,abbreviations,idiomsorword-likeexpressionsthatcontainsymbolsornumbers.Wordsegmentationisevenmoreproblematicforlanguagesthatdonotusespacestoseparatewords,suchasChineseandJapanese,andforagglutinativelanguages,wheresomefunctionalwordclassesarerealizedasaffixes,suchasKorean.Themanyapplicationsandfieldsthatneedtosegmenttextsintowords—andthustowhichthispartofISO24614canbeapplied—includethefollowing.
